Courtenay and Comox - Northern Vancouver Island by RV!

One of the best things about an RV trip in BC is that there are so many OPTIONS. Looking for an adrenaline filled trip? Hit up Whistler, Squamish, Revelstoke, and Golden! Looking to spend some time touring world-class food and wine locales? The Okanagan Valley has you covered with more options than you could ever experience! If you're looking for a relaxing, low-key, quiet trip to make the most of Canada's wilderness, we would recommend the Coastal Tour. Courtenay and Comox, are large enough to have anything you need, while being small enough to offer a true backcountry wilderness within a 20 minute drive.

  • Seal Bay Nature Park:This forested network of trails leads through leafy, old growth forest. Follow the path down the cliffs to the beach for a SPECTACULAR, vibrant-blue view of the mainland. We brought a picnic, and spent the afternoon enjoying the views!

  • Downtown Courtenay:This quaint, colourful, and interesting city is great for a self-guided walking tour! Pick up a few local goods (Comox Valley Cheese, anyone?) and wander through the shops – you never know what you’ll find!
  • Mount Washington Alpine Resort:Take the scenic chairlift up, and either bike down, or do a few day hikes from the top! This Ski Resort serves as a wonderful trip into the mountains for those not venturing to the Canadian Rockies – and trust us, the views will NOT disappoint!
  • Wineries:You certainly can enjoy the best of BC’s wine, even if you’re not going to the Okanagan! Hit up Blue Moon and 40 Knots – or book a day-long winery tour, and have a local shuttle you around!

There are LOTS of RV parks in the area, and to be honest, we'd be happy at any of them. However, if you have your pick of the lot, we'd recommend Cape Lazo RV Park and Campground - great location, with tons of awesome reviews!

There is PLENTY more to do in the area, but we find, for a coastal tour, the above activities will give you a sample of what BC has to offer – and who knows? Maybe you’ll need to come back to see more!
